Home Information Packs (HIPS) Now required throughout England and Wales on properties with three or more bedrooms (as of 10 September 2007 for three bedroom properties) if you're selling your house on the open market. You have a choice. You can either put the pack together yourself or pay a third party to do it for you. Some estate agents offer this service or you can find a specialist provider. Directgov Portal of public services information and services. In the Home and Communities section you'll find information on estate agents. MoneyScotland -Government web site dedicated to providing information on Scotland's Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) OFT The website for the Office of Fair Trading. Publishes important alerts on consumer issues. Good source of UK legislation.

Good quality articles and forums. The Financial Services Authority The regulator of all financial services in the UK. A more useful site than you might initially think. The Council of Mortgage Lenders Useful site if you are interested to see how the UK mortgage industry thinks and what issues are of concern to them. House prices Essential sites covering house prices. Price-related house seller resources are changing all the time. It was only recently, that Hometrack added Scottish data to its system but this is not yet available to the public (see house valuations). Glasgow Solicitors' Property Centre Free house prices for the West of Scotland from 2000. HousePriceScotland House price information and title search across Scotland. Not free. Land Registry The most comprehensive source of UK house price information covering England and Wales. You can also order plans, ownership information and more. Mouseprice Very useful house price site. Offers market analysis not available elsewhere. Nethouseprices UK House prices with some unique features and you don't have to register. Probably the easiest house price site to navigate. Our Property UK House prices. You do need to register. Also a useful source of information on local property professionals. Includes Scottish prices. Scotland's House Prices Government run service, offering paid-for searches by post code or by street, district or town.
House valuations Every house seller's kitbag should include some information on house valuations. This is why we wanted to include these in our directory. This is even more important if you're looking for a quick house sale. Hometrack House price reports and widely respected source of house valuation reports for individual properties in England and Wales. Works well for most properties.
