My house chain is broken - can I sell my house quickly for the full value?

by Sally
(Berkshire)

Our house in Berks sold within 2 weeks of coming on the market but our buyer dropped out today. If I use the services of a house buying company can I still sell my house quickly at the same price?

Reply:

Where are you in the chain? This will have some bearing on your options. Generally if you sell to a company which specialises in quick purchases you will not get the same price for your house. Offers reflect a number of factors - including how hard it can be to sell, exactly when you need to! Offers can be around 30% lower for this type of service.
But perhaps you don't need to go down this route. If your house sold quickly in the first place through an agent it may do so again. If the other members of the chain have also had to put their homes back on the market you are all in the same boat.

Sometimes its possible for more than one member of a chain to agree a cut in price to get the chain going again more quickly than would otherwise me the case.
